Land Use Pass

Please make sure you have reviewed our Training Page and associated pages prior to purchasing. If you are on the Approved User list, you can purchase an orange pass. Otherwise, if you want to be allowed to join an Approved user and/or want to pre-purchase a training day pass, you can buy the blue pass below. We will either mail it to you, make them available at regular training day events, or you can connect with a Board Member.

Approved Members Land Use Passes

  • *Pass must be visibly displayed on vehicle dash when using training grounds.

    *Pass must be presented to landowner or landowner representative upon request.

    *Valid between May 1 and Labor Day only in Helmville area, unless otherwise approved.

    *Registration to use grounds must be completed at least 24 hours in advance on the Chapter training calendar (see QR code).

    *Whenever possible, coordinate and assist with other members’ training goals. Avoid conflict. Communicate and cooperate. This is a shared resource!

    *Outside of official Chapter sponsored tests or training days, camping is ONLY allowed through Hipcamp at the Helmville Rodeo Grounds (see QR code). Camping is also available at Browns Lake and other Public Lands

    *Failure to abide by these rules, or engage in any behavior disrespectful to the landowner or detrimental to the Big Sky Chapter, may lead to loss of privilege to train on these grounds or expulsion from the Chapter. Rules subject to change at the discretion of the Board.

    *If you see a violation of these rules, please let us know. “See something… say something” This opportunity relies upon us holding each other accountable.

    5 day pass is $50 ,10 day pass is $90, 20 day is $170

    A prepaid training day on this pass may also be used to cover the normal $10 training fee for 1 dog on a scheduled Chapter training day.

    *Leave gates like you find them. If a gate is closed, close it immediately after driving through.

    *Requests or instructions from the landowner or landowner representative supersede chapter instructions and must be respected.

    *Remove all garbage, shells, equipment other than Chapter Trailers after use

    *Respect the resource and the relationships that make training here possible. Be an ambassador for the Chapter. Do NOT screw it up for everyone else!

    *Remove all dog feces, feathers or other possible scent distractions from water training areas. Do not leave dead birds behind!

    *Never leave bumpers, balls, tethered live ducks, or dead ducks in duck search waters. You must have a boat or waders available to retrieve these items after training, OR use wing clipped ducks.

    *Wear safety orange, only use break open shotguns, and adhere to all other NAVHDA safety rules. Never shoot toward people or vehicles. Gun safety is paramount!

    *If Chapter equipment is used, make sure that it is returned in working order to the trailer.

    *Absolutely NO open flames. Do not drive off road or through dry grass. Be extremely fire cautious

    *Do your best to avoid escape/survival of kill pigeons.

    *Only drive on established roads and park in established parking areas.

    *Control your dog. Unless in a training scenario, or by agreement with another handler, dogs are prohibited from running loose within 100 yards of another dog.

    *Commercial use of the grounds is strictly prohibited unless it is for training a dog registered in a Big Sky Chapter Test during the same calendar year.
